Availability: Requires regular overlap with US Pacific Time afternoon hours (Oceania residents included!)

Responsibilities
- Lead all aspects of a $1.5M charity’s financial operations
- Review and process expenses for internal and fiscally-sponsored projects using Open Collective, Wise, and SAFE
- Handle major donations of fiat and digital currencies
- Monitor organization cash flow and treasuries of fiat and crypto assets
- Serve as main point of contact for bookkeepers, accountants, tax team, and auditors
- Set, revise, and maintain financial systems, policies, and compliance
- Oversee the organization’s small fiscal sponsorship program
- Continue to develop newly-revitalized financial systems, including workflows in Coda
- Maintain and obtain insurance as needed
- Oversee vendor and contractor contracting and payment processes
- Handle simple payroll tasks and basic HR for two PEO and two EOR employees
- Support board and ED strategic financial planning
- Prepare monthly financial reports and dashboards for board review and attend some quarterly board meetings

The ideal candidate will:
- Possess the perseverance to independently run down ambiguity and generate clarity
- Work well with others, synchronously and asynchronously even with minimal overlap
- Display a professional comportment, even when dealing with tensions surrounding financial matters
- Be a strong communicator, with a commitment to transparency and the experience to gauge the level of detail required for the situation
Desired experience
The ideal candidate will have:
- Strong knowledge of charitable organizations’ financial systems. We are a 501(c)(3) organization with a wide array of funders, from arts foundations to democracy initiatives.
- Several years’ experience working with digital assets in an institutional setting. We receive part of our funding from Web3 foundations to conduct governance research and develop standards, as part of a larger portfolio spanning a broad range of partners and topics.
